Sandra Pereira Durst, 59, of Chapin, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Born in Camden, SC on January 17, 1965, she was a daughter of Barbara Watkins Pereira and the late Ernest A. Pereira, III. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, where she served in many capacities. Sandra touched the lives of so many and was a friend to all. Her unwavering kindness, compassionate nature, and radiant smile illuminated the lives of those around her. Sandra's selflessness knew no bounds; she was a dedicated caregiver and a true servant of God, embodying love and grace in all she did. Her legacy of warmth and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
She loved gardening and planting flowers. Some of her favorite vacations were spent at Edisto Beach, where she loved finding shark teeth. She also enjoyed crafting, thrifting, and helping in various mission projects through the years.
Her greatest treasure was her family. In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her daughter, Jessica Yarborough (Stuart), of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Briggs, Hank, and Kayleigh Yarborough, who affectionately knew her as "Lolly". She is also survived by sisters, Alice Pereira and Deborah Evans; stepsons, Derek and Cory Durst; along with many step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. In addition to her father, Ernie, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Durst.
A visitation for Mrs. Durst will be held on Friday, February 9th from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Salem United Methodist Church. The memorial service will follow on Saturday, February 10th at 11 A.M. at the church. Milton Shealy Funeral Home is assisting the Durst family.
