Steve Olsen

Steve Eugene Olsen, 57, of Salley, cherished husband of Valerie, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Born in Charleston, SC on January 5, 1964, he was a son of Patricia Anne Teston Olsen and the late Stanley Clifton Olsen. Steve owned and operated Straight Shot Express, LLC trucking company. Known to most to be a tuff man, he was the decision maker in most situations and carried the weight of everyone on his shoulders to ease their burden. A man with a big heart , who was generous, loved his family unconditionally, especially his grandsons. He loved to ride horses especially with his daughter Sara and always called their home the KOA for family and friends. Steve also loved to take his nephew, Charlie, along with his grandsons on trips in his truck.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Valerie Olsen; daughter, Sara Olsen Davis (John); grandchildren, Earl Eugene, Mack Eli, Amos Eyan, and Jedd Elijah. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia; a brother, Stanley "Bud" Olsen (Michelle); sisters, Deborah Tindall and Connie Glover (Gary); as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a baby brother, Tommy Olsen.

The service for Mr. Olsen will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 21st at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with Mrs. Beverly Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Batesburg Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
