Sue Kathleen Hunter

Sue Kathleen "Kat" Hunter, 72, of Batesburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Ezelle Byron Gunter and Sue Ella Hartley Shealy. Kat was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where her love for her church and devotion to reading her Bible were guiding lights in her life. She also found joy in creating beautiful flower arrangements, which she lovingly shared with her church.

A true matriarch, Kat cherished her family deeply. She was known for her warm heart and the delicious baked goods. Her legacy of love and care will be remembered by all who knew her.

Kat is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years, Randolph Hunter; children, Eddie Pilot (Angela) and Michelle Pilot Hanson (Justin); grandchildren, Andrew and Heather Pilot, Audrey Estep (Brandon) and Toni Ward (John); and her precious great-grandchildren, Bradly Pilot, Harlan Hanson, Naomi Estep and Gabriella (Ward) Calvin. 

A memorial service celebrating Kat’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22nd, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, with Pastor Brandon Estep officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior, beginning at 2:00 p.m., before the service. Following the service, the family will gather at her home, where they will honor her memory with a balloon release.
