Thurmond Kneece Sr.

Thurmond D. “Big Buddy” Kneece, Sr., 68, of Batesburg, passed away July 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 9, 2021 at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mt. Ebal Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Paulling will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Active pallbearers are nephews: Davis Kneece, Chad Kneece, Chris Kneece, Steven Kneece, Travis Fox, and Luther Fox. Honorary pallbearers are Lynwood Fox, Jr., Eddie Hall, and Duane Hall, who are nephews, and Walter Paradice, Donnie Kneece, and James Temple.

Mr. Kneece was the son of Quitman “Pete” and Hattie Quarles Kneece. He was a member of Mt. Ebal Baptist Church. Prior to medical retirement, he worked for Graniteville Textile Company.

Surviving is his son, Thurmond D. “Little Buddy” Kneece, Jr.; sisters: Mae Fox, Marie (Donnie) Asbill, and Erline Smith; sisters-in-law: Tootsie Kneece and Anita Kneece; uncle, Luke Quarles; aunts: Ruth Wates, Hazel Thomas, and Dot Quarles. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Libby Alewine Kneece; brothers: David Kneece, Densel Kneece and Jack Kneece; sister, Nannie Ree Hall Auerhamer; brothers-in-law: Bruce Smith, Lynwood Fox, Sr., and Wyman Auerhamer; sister-in-law, Merry Kneece.
