Walter D. Smith

Walter D. Smith, 62, of Batesburg, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, September 25, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with Rev. Don Turner officiating. The service will include masonic rites. Batesburg-Leesville Masons of lodge #138 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held after the service. Mr. Smith was born in Gilbert, SC son of the late Jacob Earl Smith and Lela Sue Ella Amick Smith. He was a member of the B-L Masonic Lodge #138 where he was the Past Master and Treasurer Emeritus. He loved being a member of the lodge and was in charge of Masonic Lodge Golf tournament and annual BBQ fundraiser. He enjoyed home cooked meals. Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He never met a stranger and his mission in life was to bring joy to everyone he met. Surviving are his wife, Jackie Trotter Warren Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Jake (Shon) Smith of Leesville; daughter, Harlyn Warren of Gilbert; grandchildren, Kaylyn Warren; Sianna Smith; and Elaina Smith; brothers and sisters, Christine Sandford; Everett Smith; Brenda Morris; Grace Carborso; Ricky Smith; Jon Smith; Diane Pardue; Jan Long; and Patsy Clark. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.E. Smith; Lanier Smith; and sisters, Annette Threat and Sis Culver. Memorials may be made to B-L Masonic Lodge #138 or the Children's Chance, 13 Surrey Ct Suite 200, Columbia, SC 29212. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Vijaya Korrapati MD and her staff for all their love and care.
