Wilbur Crosson Wood, Sr.

Wilbur Crosson Wood, Sr., 98, of Leesville, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 8th at East Side Baptist Church with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The Rev. Mitch Bruner and Rev. Donald Bodie will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Gantt, Scott Gantt, Stacy Wood, Joshua Gantt, Lawyne Wood and Duane Wood.

Mr. Wood was born in Aiken County, a son of the late Edward and Pearl Heywood Wood. He was married to the late Helen G. Collum Wood. Mr. Wood loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church for many years, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife Helen, and loving father and grandfather/great grandfather.

Surviving are his son, Wilbur Crosson Wood, Jr. "Sonny" (JoAnn); daughters, Vera Ann Gantt (Steve) and Nancey "Jennie" Keeler (Gary); six grandchildren, Jeremy Gantt (Susan), Scott Gantt (Christy), Stacy Wood (Wymberly), Joshua Gantt (Jessica), Brian Wood, Kimberly Wood; and ten great grandchidlren. Also surviving are his sister, Frances W. Harsey; and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lavern Wood; daughter, Brenda Gail Wood; brothers, Ray, Roy, Silas, Lonnie and Bill; as well as sisters, Gladys, Daisy, Willie Mae and Geneva. He was also preceded in death by his best friend, Bennie.
