William Clyde Powell Sr.

William “Bill” Clyde Powell, Sr., 83, of Belmont, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Caromont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, NC. He was born in Ridge Spring, SC, a son of the late Jesse William and Sarah Earline Padgett Powell. Bill was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Parkersburg, WV, and an avid daily Bible reader. He loved playing golf, watching sports, and had a love of all things Clemson. He was a wonderful father and grandfather that loved his family dearly. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and beloved dog, Tiger.

Surviving are his children, Denise Powell Dole (Tony), Deborah Powell Major (Brett), DeeDee Powell (fiancé, Brad Ratliff) and William “Billy” Clyde Powell, Jr. (Dana); and grandchildren, Mike Dole, Zac Wilson, Wes Dole (Cody), Jordan Ray, Landon Major, Peyton Rollins (Louis) and Luke Major. Also surviving are his siblings, Anne Powell Pullen (John) and Earle “Peanut” Powell (Machelle); along with numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy and Rusty Powell.

The service for Mr. Bill will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 7th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with burial immediately following in Ridge Spring Cemetery. The Rev. Kyle Harmon and Rev. Bill Padgett will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home.
