William “Bill” Ernest Lawless aged 75 years and died to this life on Monday, July 22, 2024 in Lexington, South Carolina. He was surrounded by his beloved wife, Kathy Kennedy Lawless, her children, Oliver Hartner and Allie McIntosh, and the caring staff of Lexington Medical Center at the time of his passing.
Bill was born in Eureka, Kansas on April 28, 1949, and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War between 1969 and 1972. Upon returning to Mountain Home, Arkansas, he owned and operated Lawless Electronics until his retirement. He then fished professionally on the B.A.S.S. Tournament circuit for five years and was an avid horseman in several team penning and ranch sorting organizations, earning the title of AQHA World Champion and Reserve Champion for several consecutive years.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Kathy Lawless; his daughter, Tanya Hough and her sons, Emory and Owen; his stepson, Oliver Hartner and wife, Rebecca along with their daughter, Virginia; and stepdaughter, Allie McIntosh and her husband, Kyle, along with their children, Eliza, Hazel, and Abel. He is also survived by his sisters, Miki Kendrick of Houston, Texas, Jane Roberts of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Sandra McCarthy of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and his brother, Rick Lawless of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Bill was predeceased by his son, William Eric Lawless; a daughter, Maura Michelle Lawless; his parents, Louise and Joseph Lawless, his sisters, Patricia Bates, Mary Halfacre, and Sue Tharpe; and a brother, Don Lawless.
