Wynette Bodie Gunter

March 26, 1940 — November 19, 2024

Leesville

Wynette Bodie Gunter, 84, departed her earthly home peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Wynette was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and warmth, always reflecting her deep devotion to God. She was known for her strong will, delicious country cooking, and tireless love for her family. This love came secondary only to her unwavering love for her Lord, Jesus Christ. Along with her husband, she was a devoted member of Steadman Baptist Church. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling, cooking and watching the Lady Gamecock basketball team. Wynette's love, strength, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 62 years, Tracy C. Gunter, Jr; her children, Lisa Gunter Price, Jennifer Gunter Scruggs (Joey), Tracy Capers Gunter, III (Gariane); as well as her grandchildren, Scott Price (Hannah), Chip Price (Jillian); Josh Scruggs, Jake Scruggs (fiancé, Paige), Jenna Scruggs, Isabella Gunter and Tracy Capers Gunter, IV; and great grandson, Nate Price. Also surviving are her sisters, Beverly Jackson and Reta Ditmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Minnie Bodie Rawl and Tom Bodie.

Wynette will be laid to rest at 11 AM Saturday, November 23rd at Steadman Baptist Church. The funeral service will be followed by graveside service in the church cemetery. Pastor Neal Smith and Pastor Johnny Rumbough will officiate. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church sanctuary. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Scott, Chip, Josh, Jake, Capers and nephew: Matt Bodie.

Proverbs 35: 25-31
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
